The series revolves around Lu Qianqiao's efforts to preserve the bloodline of his Ghost Warrior Clan, where he must first break the curse and reincarnate as a human. Borrowing the identity of the corrupt official Lu Huai, he marries Xin Mei, an immortal cultivator with a Taoist body and a spiritual root despite being a jinx to her husband.
