Susan Calman's Grand Day Out

The comedian explores Devon and Cornwall in her vintage camper van, taking in some dramatic scenery, unspoilt countryside and incredible historic sights along the way. She stumbles across one of the area's more unique attractions, including The Gnome Reserve, where she meets a local who has a collection of more than 1,000 gnomes, and finds out where the term 'stickler' comes from by taking part in the ancient sport of Cornish Wrestling, before ending her journey at the stunning coastal viewpoint of St Bedruthan Steps.

The comedian aboard her vintage camper van, explores the mountainous region of north-west England and the Lake District. She begins her 142-mile journey just south of Penrith, travelling down through the lakes, before heading west to finish near Keswick. Along the way she meets the people and visits the places that make this most scenic part of Britain unique. On Ullswater, Susan gets a chance to take charge of the oldest working passenger vessel in the world, the Lady of the Lake. Then she hears of Beatrix Potter's love of the region before heading the spooky Muncaster Castle.

The comedian ventures east of the Pennines on a 126-mile journey that begins at the North Yorkshire village of Runswick Bay, where she goes hunting for a rare gemstone called Whitby Jet. Susan samples the local cod and chips before exploring the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey - famed for inspiring some of the most dramatic scenes in Bram Stoker's Dracula. After a spell at Mother Shipton's Cave - the oldest tourist attraction in England - she meets up with a group whose members reconstruct Roman gladiatorial battles in York. Finally, Susan ventures to Malham Cove, a huge curving amphitheatre-shaped cliff.

The comedian takes a tour of the Cotswolds, beginning in Tetbury, where she gets some tips for a practice run for the market town's famous woolsack races, before moving on to Westonbirt, home to forest bathing and a club devoted to puddings. Susan moves on to Bourton-on-the-Water miniature village, makes a spoon under the guidance of a special silversmith, and explores the gardens of an Indian palace in the midst of the Cotswolds.

The comedian aboard her vintage camper van, explores the Pembroke coast in Wales. She begins her 130-mile road trip just north of Pembrokeshire near the town of Cardigan, then follows the coastline south to Carmarthenshire, ending her trip at Pendine Sands. Her first visit is to the Teifi River where she's invited to paddle an unusually small boat called a coracle, then it's on to the Blue Lagoon for a spot of cliff jumping. Next, Susan samples Welsh seaweed delicacy laverbread at Broadhaven Beach, before visiting the home of the celebrated Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Susan and her campervan Helen arrive on home turf, touring the breath-taking southern Highlands of Scotland on a 140-mile trek from Glasgow to Aberfoyle. At Loch Lomond, the comedian takes to a kayak and hits the water to get a unique view of the amazing local scenery. She visits the spectacular Falls of Dochart, where she gets special access to the stunningly beautiful island of Inchbuie. She also views a bizarre Iron Age-style dwelling, known as a crannog, erected on stilts in Loch Tay.

The comedian's second run of excursions begins on the Norfolk Broads, where she is invited aboard a beautifully restored boat known as a wherry. Moving onto Cromer, Susan has come for the famous crab, but also discovers the local jig dolls. Part puppet, part percussion instrument, it leads to a very happy time in a pub.

The comedian and presenter explores Cornwall's coast, taking in the delights from Charlestown to Land's End, and beyond. She is invited to scale the masts of a schooner at the UK's last working Georgian port and is asked to help tend the country's only outdoor jungle. On the other side of a ferry trip, Susan discovers the surprising sight of Europe's largest tea plantation, right here in Britain.

The comedian climbs the dramatic and spectacular peaks of north Wales. She she stops off at the must-see tourist spot of the Tu Hwnt Ir Bont Tearoom, said to be the most photographed in Wales and famed for its Welsh rarebit. Moving on to Mount Snowdon, Susan climbs the magnificent peak in style, using the mountain railway.

The comedian visits Shakespeare Country, and stops off at the impressive Warwick Castle. There she is invited to try the ancient art of archery and, to her surprise, discovers she's a natural. Susan also enjoys a pedalo trip on the River Avon before she and campervan Helen travel to Stratford-upon-Avon, the spot synonymous with playwright and poet William Shakespeare.

Susan discovers some of the most beautiful parts of Northern Ireland's coastline, beginning in Belfast and heading to the Antrim coast, before moving inland to Lough Neagh. Along the way she meets a number of local characters, including some passionate spade makers who have turned the humble spade into an art form, and visits a place that is responsible for attracting 350,000 Game of Thrones enthusiasts to the region's shores every year.

Susan heads for the West Country, and travels from Bath to the village of Cheddar, before meandering through the medieval city of Wells and ending her road trip in Weston-super-Mare. Along the way she meets a Jane Austen aficionado who is happy to provide some fitting period costume and all the gossip behind that era, takes in the astonishing 400-foot-high cliffs of the Cheddar Gorge and is challenged to a game of skittles.

The presenter explores Kent, and investigates the curiously named Leeds Castle. She also takes a look round Chatham and its historic dockyard, which, as it turns out, is home to not only the world's only working Victorian Ropery, but also Britain's only female master rope maker. Susan concludes her trip at one of the most iconic and recognisable views of Britain - the White Cliffs of Dover.

The travel show returns with a trip to Devon, where Susan investigates a part of the coastline known as the English Riviera. She will discover intriguing places and inspiring sights on her 85-mile adventure, exploring shimmering seas, pristine beaches, and pretty harbours.

In this episode, Susan takes her campervan Helen to the rolling countryside and amazing scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, a part of the world that's become known as Herriot Country.

The starting point of her trip is perhaps the country's most famous ancient site - Stonehenge.

The comedian heads to the south Cornish Coast in her campervan, Helen. Susan's adventure starts at the most southerly point of Britain on the Lizard peninsula, where she explores the coast by kayak to see the dramatic scenery up close.

The comedian takes her vintage camper van to the Wye Valley, which attracts tourists from far and wide for its ancient woodlands, quirky traditions and beauty spots galore. Susan starts on the River Wye itself and does it in style on the charming old boat Wye Pride. Waiting for her onboard is local legend Gerald, whose family have worked these waters since 1750. He has a few stories of times gone by to share with Susan, while a few more recent family snaps reveal just how important this spot is today. Susan also meets 22-time champion cheese roller Chris Anderson, who gives her a few top tips and shows her how it's done.

In this episode, Susan heads to the dramatic, yet charming coast of Northern Ireland. It's full of warm characters, ancient traditions and a truly striking landscape. When it comes to epic adventures, this certainly looks the part. The starting point of her trip is the gorgeous Glenariff — one of the nine Glens of Antrim, stretching over 270 square miles. Then it's a stop at the glamourous Glenarm Castle estate, which is home to one of Ireland's oldest walled gardens. Here, Susan is allowed a look around inside the historic castle before being treated to a ride in a vintage car. Susan takes a quick stop by the coast to hear about a local delicacy — dulse — before travelling to Portstewart, where she's treated to a traditional Irish dance recital from a group who like to add a modern twist. And, at Royal Portrush, keen golfer Susan is invited to play a hole on one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the world. The Irish tradition of basket-making goes back centuries, and Susan is given a lesson by one of the few remaining weavers in the country. Then it's off to the oldest whiskey distillery in the world for a unique way to appreciate the spirit — sniffing not sipping. Moving on, Susan discovers a way to flex her artistic muscles with something known as ‘Drag and Draw'. Assembled artists try to capture a drag gueen on canvas, and Susan is thrilled to discover that modelling today is the one and only Blu Hydrangea, who recently won RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World. It's up to Susan to do justice to drag royalty. Finally, Susan makes her way along the coast to her final stop and her biggest challenge — the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Suspended across a 30-metre deep and 20-metre wide chasm, the bridge was first used by fishermen, but is now a top tourist spot. Keen to do one thing that scares her on each adventure, Susan sets out for a wobbly walk. It all makes for another of Susan's utterly unforgettable Grand Days Out.

Susan and her campervan Helen are hitting the road again, and this week, they're travelling around one of the most rural and stunning areas of England — the Shropshire Hills. Shropshire is a county without a single city and, as Susan learns, it seems to boast less about its charms than some of its more visited neighbours. But that just means there are more hidden gems for Susan to discover. At her first stop, Susan finds the stunning Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has an astonishing past as the location of the first iron bridge built anywhere in the world, and it's indicative of the county's claim to be the very birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Susan hears all about it, and then gets to see this unique spot from a different angle — sailing under the bridge in a coracle. Then, it's a stop at Blists Hill Victorian Town, which turns out to be a faithful re-creation of a typical east Shropshire coalfield town from around 1900. Enjoying getting into the spirit of the place, Susan visits the town's milliner to pick out just the right period hat. Then it's off to Ludlow, which the late poet laureate Sir John Betjeman called ‘probably the loveliest town in England'. And a little part of that loveliness is the care it gives to nature: this is the home of Pricklebums, a charity that takes care of sick and injured hedgehogs. Today, there are some recently rescued hoglets that need a health check and Susan is only too happy to help. At the British Ironwork Centre and Sculpture Park, Susan finds a group of enthusiasts who make wonderful artworks out of discarded metal. A gorilla made of 40,000 spoons is a sight to behold as also, it turns out, is Susan with a blowtorch. Then, Susan winds her way to the Cambrian Heritage Railways. Here, she's given the unique opportunity to actually drive a stream train solo. Susan enjoys every second, even when the warning alarm starts to go off. Susan gets involved in a thrilling escape from a Shrewsbury Prison, though she's only on the run from an authentic-looking escape room. And the great outdoors beckons one final time, as she finishes with a spot of wild swimming, meeting a couple of local enthusiasts along the way who help her brave what is charitably described as bracing water. It allows her to finish among the heights of the Shropshire Hills and reflect on how fortunate she has been to experience this particular one of her Grand Days Out.

The presenter and her campervan Helen are heading back to an old favourite - Yorkshire. However, Susan finds that the dales and moors contain a few spots she hasn't explored - and a few surprises that are a joy to discover. Oakworth Station is one such place - home to a still functioning steam railway, it's the train station where the 1970s classic The Railway Children was filmed.

The comedian explores the historic city of Oxford and the Chilterns, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. She gets her bearings at one of the best preserved 17th-century windmills in the world at Brill, and from there, the scholarly streets of Oxford beckon. Susan has always loved a model village and discovers that the Chilterns has the oldest in the world, complete with working model railway.

The presenter heads to the lush county of Cumbria. Spanning the Lake District and North Pennines, this area looks like it is straight out of a storybook. Susan meets a storyteller laureate, before taking to the largest lake in England on the ideal boat for a Swallows and Amazons-style adventure.

The comedian and her campervan hit the road for a trip to the Yorkshire valleys. At York Minster, she hears about how the people of Yorkshire saved the stunning stained glass during the Second World War. Susan also visits a teddy bear museum, Betty's cafe tea rooms, and takes a miniature steam train ride.

Susan steers her campervan around some of the beauty spots of Devon and the south coast of England, and gets the chance to dig into the footsteps of renowned fossil hunter Mary Anning, as well as fulfilling the dream of driving a vintage tram. She then discovers why South Devon is a top spot for growing chilli in the UK and handles the world's hottest - very carefully - as she helps to plant the latest crop.

Susan travels to the south coast of Wales to visit the Gower peninsula, Cardiff Castle and the National Botanic Garden. Plus, a unique game of Welsh baseball.

The comedian explores the Isle of Man, and discovers an island of beautiful landscapes, friendly people and exciting discoveries. Susan kicks off her latest adventure exploring the historic port of Peel. In this former Viking stronghold, she meets a prolific treasure hunter before joining the crew of a Viking longboat for a trip around the harbour.

The comedian heads into the heart of the country - Lancashire and Morecambe Bay, with its contrasting landscapes, quirky traditions, historic landmarks and community spirit. In picturesque Wray, Susan learns about the nine-day scarecrow festival that raises money for local charities. Over at the coast in Morecambe Bay, she discovers a bird sanctuary named in Eric Morecambe's honour.

Susan celebrates the countryside and all it has to offer, enjoying an adventure at Hopetoun House - billed as Scotland's finest stately home - and recalling highlights from her country trips over the years.Hopetoun House nestles on the South Queensferry coast, with views to the Forth Bridges. Here, Susan gets to try out country house life in all manner of ways – whether it's upstairs, downstairs or outdoors.Susan enjoys a glamorous drawing room as it as it was intended, by parading around the edges so the art hung on French red silk-lined walls can be shown off to its best; but she also discovers the ornate ceiling is best enjoyed lying down on the floor.Downstairs, she meets Fiona who explains the role of the country house maids of old and puts Susan to work making butter with paddles. It's something Susan is very keen to get right - but she's not sure she's pleased with the results.Then, in the glorious landscaped gardens, she helps in the important job of tending to the ponds. It turns out that a few of the stately home's residents need a bit of help to get around, and the job requires setting out ladders to help baby toads get out of the water. As she reflects, it may be one of the most worthwhile jobs she's ever done.Through it all, there's a memorable collection of Grand Days Out where Susan recollects some of her wonderful countryside trips. Whether they've taken her to The Eden Project or to a gloriously sunny Dartmoor and whether it involves walking alpacas or running down hills after cheese, her adventures with Helen have always been filled with joy.

Susan enjoys a stretch of Heritage Coast and the rolling countryside of the North Pennines. She also explores the Northumberland National Park.

Susan's adventures bring her to the county of Hampshire. In Portsmouth she explores HMS Victory, learning how Nelson's cunning tricks won out in the Battle of Trafalgar. She also visits the former home of Jane Austen in Chawton, which inspires her to have a go at Regency dancing, and finds out about a curious eating competition in the town of New Alresford.

Susan explores the second largest county in England as she takes in the gorgeous rural sights in and around the Lincolnshire Fens. She arrives to lush greens, as pops of yellow punctuate the vast, flat Lincolnshire landscape. This may be the perfect place to pootle.Susan stops by Sir Isaac Newton's family home, Woolsthorpe Manor House, where she hears about this great man- and sees the very apple tree that inspired the discovery of gravity. Susan can't resist testing out the laws of motion herself. Luckily, there's a home-made rocket launcher on site. It may look simple, but Susan doesn't find it altogether straightforward to operate.For a famously flat county, Lincolnshire manages to make the most of the hills it has. She meets a participant in the local Coleby Downhill Challenge- a soapbox racing derby, and finds one has been styled just like a certain little van of her acquaintance. In her ‘mini-Mirren' she has her first go in a soapbox. She had no idea her knuckles could get this white…At the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre she meets Andrew, the grandson of Fred and Harold Panton who built this place up over time as a tribute to their eldest brother Christopher Panton, shot down and killed on a bombing raid over Nuremberg in March 1944. They bought an out of use Lancaster Bomber which is now being restored to its former glory. Susan is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go for a taxi ride along the runway in this icon of British history.At Lincoln Cathedral, Susan is let into the secrets of the ancient art of illumination- one of them being the use of the illuminator's ‘skin grease' in the process. It may not sound very elegant, but the end result is a thing of beauty.In Spalding, she helps preparations for the return of a flower festival in what was once the tulip capital of the UK, and she finishes in a delightful little spot in the Lincolnshire woods, where a 100-year-old cinema still proudly sits. It's a treat to remember the joys of classic movies and of watching with her grandmother, and she gets to see the Chaplin classic that was the first film played here a century ago, complete with live organ music to evoke the very spirit of the silent era.

This time, Susan is on home soil exploring the beautiful Scottish Borders and the neighbouring Dumfries and Galloway. It's a journey of discovery and nostalgia as Susan takes her motorhome Helen to some of her favourite haunts, as well as uncovering some exciting new places.

This time Susan and her campervan Helen are hitting the highways of beautiful Kent, pootling around Canterbury and the Garden of England. It's got the makings of a wonderful adventure for Susan as she visits iconic spots, immerses herself in exciting pastimes, and falls in love with the incredible scenery of this wondrous county.She kicks off her adventure at the mighty Hever Castle. It was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and boasts some award-winning gardens. But it is also home to a 7000-yard Golf Course, the brainchild of one of the world's richest men. It's a place of beauty- but also of fun, as Susan realises she can offer a helping hand. She's a keen gardener- and who doesn't love a ride-on mower? From here, she heads to the medieval city of Canterbury and joins the punts which journey along the River Stour. It's a lovely, relaxing trip- though, as she discovers, there's a few low-level bridges that need navigated.Then it's a stop at Canterbury Cathedral, site of the incredible story of Thomas Beckett and the reason why Canterbury became the premier place for a medieval pilgrimage. Here too, she discovers that medieval souvenirs are still made using authentic methods. She quickly commissions her own ‘pilgrim badge'- but as she helps to make it, she realises it involves pouring molten metal. And, that when you're told not to touch something hot, it's the only thing you can think of doing…As the Garden of England, Kent place host to the UK's National Fruit Collection at Brogdale Farm. It's cherry season- and here they have no fewer than 320 varieties. Apparently, it was King Henry VIII who first coined the term ‘Garden of England', after tasting some of the local cherries. Many of them are indeed quite lovely- but there's one Susan hasn't come across before that gives new meaning to the word ‘sour'. It seems that's how they liked them in Tudor times…In Penshurst, she tries her well-gloved hand at the noble art of fencing- and learns that this very place was the site of a famous movie duel, played out in the classic film, ‘The Princess Bride'. She can't resist her own recreation. Then, she stops at one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, the idyllic Sandwich, to hear how the eponymous local delicacy first got its name- and to sample the local speciality for herself. She finishes at the spectacular St Peter's Tower, giving a 360-degree view of this stunning town- and she has a final reflection on the glories of the Garden of England. It's been all she could want from a Grand Day Out.

The comedian enjoys a new adventure at Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, home to the Museum of Scottish Railways, and she remembers some of the highlights from her escapades over the years.

She arrives in Jersey at peak Jersey Royal potato season, and encounters iconic doe-eyed local cows. Susan also meets a sixth-generation farmer, and learns about the traditional art of potato harvesting on the slopes of Rozel Bay.

In historic Nottinghamshire, Susan hears tales of superheroes, explores mysterious caves, lets off steam in a wondrous example of Victorian invention, and walks in the footsteps of ice skaters Torvill and Dean. The comedian also meets a Robin Hood enthusiast, flexes her fingers at an archery contest, and takes in Newstead Abbey, Lord Byron's ancestral home.

The comedian explores the West Yorkshire Valleys, beginning in Keighley, and also visits Holmfirth, best known for being the setting of sitcom classic Last of the Summer Wine. Susan then heads to the rugged Ilkley Moor, and in the charming village of Upperthong, she investigates the sport of welly wanging. Last stop is York, where she visits the National Railway Museum.

The comedian takes her campervan into a different country for the first time, exploring the captivating landscapes of the Irish coast. In Derry she meets the man famous for creating the contemporary murals that transformed the city. Next, Susan tours the iconic Wild Atlantic Way, a breath-taking coastal route renowned for its rugged cliffs and enchanting beaches. The presenter also explores Ireland's rich folklore, and meets a man who has reintroduced wolves to the Irish wilderness for the first time in two centuries.

Susan begins a tour of some of Britain's best-loved seaside resorts as, each week, she visits a seaside town to enjoy all it has to offer.Over the next editions: Susan starts beside the sea in lovely Lyme Regis, next she's off to Eastbourne to enjoy its elegant pier and promenade. She then heads to Wales and has a blast in Barry Island. She travels to Yorkshire for beach cricket in Bridlington, before ending her adventures in Cromer with a glorious trip on the North Norfolk railway. It's fast paced and full of joy a seaside treat from start to finish!Susan begins her seaside holiday trips in Lyme Regis on the south coast, starting at the historic harbour, the Cobb. From here she makes her way along the jetty bumping into a group preparing for a game of water polo in the sea. She stops for a chat and can't resist some over enthusiastic umpiring. Full of seaside fun, Susan makes a beeline for the amusements – she's feeling lucky and is keen to win a prize!Lyme Regis is on Dorset's Jurassic coast and on Monmouth beach Susan meets chef and forager Harriet who shows Susan a locally-sourced twist to accompany the classic seaside favourite, fish and chips. Back at the bustling harbour, Susan takes to the water with the local Gig Boat racing team. It's a bit choppy and so what better way to relax afterwards than in Lyme's beachfront sauna followed by an exhilarating dip in the sea.On the promenade Susan meets showbiz legend and Carry On star Anita Harris who is in for a treat from the shanty singing Chantry Buoys. In the historic town, Anita visits a jeweller and makes an ammonite shaped pendant inspired by Lyme's rich Jurassic past. Later, Susan is in search of an ice cream and discovers that Lyme locals have supersized their seaside treat to a croffle – a delicious duo where a waffle meets a croissant topped with cream and ice cream!Beyond the town Susan uncovers the perfect seaside stay, a converted shepherd's hut with stunning views over the rolling Dorset hills. Before she leaves, there's time to snap up a souvenir - you can never have too many tea towels - and one last stroll along the iconic Cobb, paying homage to a movie favourite The French Lieutenant's Woman filmed here in Lyme Regis – in Susan's own inimitable style.

This time Susan is off to the UK's sunniest place: Eastbourne on the southeast coast.It's an elegant resort and Susan begins at the beautiful golden pier. There's fun in the amusements and the Victorian Tea Rooms is a bustling spot for a traditional afternoon tea, Calman style - who needs jam anyway? She's then off to Sovereign Harbour for a rib boat to the iconic chalk sea cliff of Beachy Head, the highest in the UK. Nearby is Belle Tout lighthouse, now a unique B&B complete with 360-degree views from the lantern room.Her next stop is the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway. A dream come true for any holidaymaker but especially for Susan who loves all things miniature and all things railway. She even gets to blow the whistle! Fish and chips are a must, and in Eastbourne Susan takes this seaside classic to another level with the vegan version - and finds it's a surprising taste sensation.On the beach Susan meets up with singer and broadcaster Aled Jones who reminisces on his childhood growing up by the sea. Susan takes Aled to an ice cream parlour, but it's a treat with a twist –a seaside sundae competition. It's Susan versus Aled – chocolate sauce and squirty cream at the ready! Then, along the beach, Aled meets a group beach fishing. He learned to fish as a boy, and, whether he catches or not, it brings back memories, and proves a beautiful way to spend time by the sea.Susan rounds off her trip with a visit to Eastbourne's band stand, billed as the busiest on earth. Listening to the Eastbourne Silver Band play Sussex by the Sea is the perfect end to her seaside holiday on the southeast coast- and she can't wait to return.

The presenter is in Barry Island, south Wales, made famous by the sitcom Gavin and Stacey. On the promenade Susan meets a gathering of camper vans, known collectively as Barryfornia. She also stops for a chat and gets a few tips for when she's next on the road with her own beloved vehicle. Later, Susan has a look around the elegant B&B, Gileston Manor.

Susan Calman heads to Bristol and the Cotswolds, starting with the sights of a pioneering engineer she's been obsessed with since school: Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Susan learns about the incredible community spirit behind the 1960s Bristol Bus Boycott from a man who played a vital role in changing race equality laws throughout the UK. She visits a wildlife centre to have a gander at the world's rarest goose. In the chocolate box town of Chipping Campden, Susan joins in the excitement of a unique local event - the Cotswolds Olimpicks. And to finish, Susan heads to Blenheim Palace. 

Back behind the wheel of her beloved campervan, the comedian takes a trip to the home of beloved childhood character Winnie the Pooh. It gives her a chance to explore everything the surrounding area of the South Downs has to offer. There's surprising history, picture postcard scenery and a healthy dose of childhood nostalgia - all topped off with her own trip to place which inspired the Hundred Acre Wood.

Susan hits the road to discover the charming delights of Cheshire and its surrounding countryside. In an edition packed with surprising history and adventure, Susan faces head-spinning heights by boating over a world-beating aqueduct, and explores the biggest Roman amphitheatre in Britain. She searches for extraterrestrial wonders at one of the world's biggest space telescopes, discovers the art of the Chinese lion dance, and learns how the suffragettes used the martial art of Suffrajitsu. 

Susan's Devon adventure begins in her camper van, Helen, exploring unique sites and quirky experiences. She dives into lawnmower racing, even joining a race, then visits the Met Office, where she fulfills her dream of being a weather reporter. At Arlington Court, Susan tours period carriages for a Bridgerton inspired ride, before riding Lynton's Victorian water-powered railway. From Exeter Cathedral to surf therapy, Devon's charm shines through.

Susan, along with her campervan Helen, explores England's largest national park; The Lake District, with it's breathtaking landscapes. Her journey begins on Coniston Water aboard the 160-year-old steam yacht Gondola, where she learns the ropes while enjoying stunning views. At Brantwood House, once home to John Ruskin, she relaxes in beautiful gardens. Next, Susan visits Dalemain House, famous for its World Marmalade Awards. From there, she meets Crab Fair organizers in Egremont and discovers the quirky World Gurning Championship. She ends her day learning puppeteering and exploring Lowther Castle. 

Susan explores the stunning South Scottish Glens and the Isle of Arran, where she spent childhood holidays. From a fascinating art installation at the Crawick Multiverse to discovering treasures at Drumlanrig Castle, Susan's journey uncovers surprises at every turn. Visit Sanquhar's oldest post office, experience the vibrant farmers Arran Show, and enjoy a catamaran ride to Brodick. Susan ends her adventure with whisky at a distillery, family fun at Blackwaterfoot beach, and memories that capture the magic of Arran. 

Susan celebrates all the brilliant journeys she's had on boats and trains, as she enjoys a new adventure at the Scottish Maritime Museum, and also remembers some of the highlights from her escapades over the years. 

Susan is back for more fun by the sea, beginning in Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, where she goes sailing on the town's last remaining pleasure cruiser and joins the women's cricket team. She also follows in the footsteps of comedy legends such as Ken Dodd and Morecambe and Wise at the local theatre Bridlington Spa, enjoys all the fun of the fair and visits a model village and puffin festival in the company of singer Sinitta.

The presenter travels to Cromer on the north Norfolk coast to investigate the Annual Vintage Sixties Festival. After admiring the parade of scooters, Susan joins the crowds with some swinging sixties moves. Aside from sampling local crab, she visits the Pavilion Theatre, a windmill B&B, and at Thursford Steam Museum, she is wowed by the world's largest collection of steam engines and organs. She also meets comedian Helen Lederer, who recalls family holidays at the seaside wearing a fetching knitted swimsuit.

The presenter explores Worcestershire, the Malvern Hills and the Midlands. She faces a speed record challenge at Shelsley Walsh, the world's oldest active motorsport track. From there, Susan time-travels through a British town's past, experiencing it through history, from the Industrial Revolution to the 1960s. She also visits the world's smallest theatre, explores canals, and learns how classic cars are hand built.

Susan tours the north of England, sticking to Yorkshire, where stunning Dales scenery and surprising local traditions await. She explores dragon boat racing on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, escapes mock beheading in Kirkby Malzeard, and visits England's highest single-drop waterfall. The presenter also tastes Wensleydale cheese, joins renegade knitters, rides Britain's oldest tramway, and ends in Bradford with fairy photos, and Wallace and Gromit themselves.

Susan's on a road trip around the borders, the east coast and Edinburgh. With the city being Scotland's most visited tourist destination, Susan really feels she's on Scotland's Tourist Trail.

This time, Susan and campervan bestie Helen Mirren are exploring the beautiful Cotswolds, famously the inspiration for romantic novelist, Jilly Cooper.

Susan visits Cornwall, on the trail of romantic hero Ross Poldark. First up is the peaceful market town of Helston, which comes alive one day a year as residents take to the streets, dancing through the shops and houses to welcome spring. Next, she visits a cove at the southern end of Cornwall, a filming spot for the latest Poldark adaptation.

The comedian embarks on a quest through Somerset, hunting for signs of King Arthur. Susan's trip starts at Glastonbury Abbey, which claims to be the site of his tomb. Next, Susan's volunteering on England's longest heritage rail line - the West Somerset Railway. At a forge outside Glastonbury, the presenter hears how the most famous sword in history - Excalibur - might have been made. Then, she uncovers another local legend - John Haynes, he man behind the iconic Haynes car manuals.

Susan visits Dumfries House in Ayrshire, exploring its treasures, from Thomas Chippendale furniture to the estate's eight antique clocks, and wandering the walled garden and maze. She also recalls some of her favourite home and garden adventures from her joyful Grand Days Out.
