A West Midlands critical care team is called to a road traffic accident in which a 13-year-old boy has been knocked over on the way to school, and now has blood coming out of one ear.

Critical care paramedic Rob and doctor Adam fight to save the life of a boy who has been stabbed in the street. The 16-year-old has been knifed in the neck, has lost a significant amount of blood and is struggling to breathe. Elsewhere, Tom Waters is dispatched to 30-year-old bricklayer Daniel, who has sliced his arm with a power saw. He was cutting timber on a workbench using an angle grinder with a circular blade when he lost control and it sliced through his right hand.

Critical care paramedic Pete Edwards and the Midlands Air Ambulance Trauma Team are dispatched to give lifesaving treatment to a 21-year-old motorcyclist who has been thrown off his bike, with his helmet also coming off in the impact. Elsewhere, Rob Davis battles to save the life of an 80-year-old who is in cardiac arrest on his driveway, and the team is called to a man who has collapsed with a suspected heart attack and is showing symptoms of Covid-19.

Dr Ben Taylor and critical care paramedic Aiden Brown work with the the fire and ambulance services to rescue an 11-year-old boy trapped in the wreckage of a car he was a passenger in. After a nasty tackle on the rugby pitch, 40- year-old Dave is left with a horrific break to his foot and critical care paramedic Pete Edwards must manually realign the bones as quickly as possible, but it's an excruciating procedure.

A car driver is seriously injured and the paramedics perform life-saving treatment and put him into an induced coma at the roadside.

A desperate 999 call comes in from a woman passenger who is seriously injured after being thrown out of a car when it careered off the road and smashed into trees.

In this episode, a man is fighting for his life after a cardiac arrest. Labourer Aaron was attacked outside his home, and the 32-year-old has been stabbed in the neck and abdomen. A gunman is reported to be on the loose at a crowded house party. With reports of at least one person dead, Dr Richard Fawcett and critical care paramedic Dan Fletcher are dispatched. When 12-year-old Benjamin was cycling home from school, he collided with a car and was thrown against the windscreen.

In this episode, two men are injured after an explosion at a firm that specialises in the disposal of hazardous waste. Critical care paramedic Jack Lewis and paramedic Sam Collisson are called to Wolverhampton, where a fight has broken out in the street. In Birmingham, there are reports that a man has crashed his car and jumped off a motorway bridge after being pursued by police. Critical care paramedics Mike Andrews and Ryan Ferris are called to Birmingham, where a schoolgirl has been injured in a hit-andrun incident.

In this episode, Dr Iwan Davies and paramedic Peter Bowles are called to Halesowen, where a man is reported to have cut himself badly in a fall. Pensioner Roy hit his head on a cabinet, partly detaching his scalp. Paramedics have so far been unable to contain the bleeding. Dr Iwan applies more than 10 surgical staples to hold Roy's scalp in place and ensure he can be transported safely to hospital. In Birmingham, Dr Hadassa Ihlenfeldt and critical care paramedic Ash Mulindar are called to a tower block where a man has overdosed on heroin. He's unconscious and is barely breathing. The team use a bag to ventilate him and administer NARCAN, a medication that reverses the effects of the drug. Dr Jon Bingham and critical care paramedic Jack Lewis are dispatched to Stafford, where an elderly man is believed to have fallen down the stairs. Neighbours raised the alarm after his family was unable to reach him. Jack and Dr Jon arrive to find the patient in a critical condition, as 77-year-old retired warehouse manager Mick is believed to have spent the night at the bottom of the stairs. He's unconscious, and his breathing is weak. Jack and Dr Jon decide to anaesthetise Mick and insert a tube down his throat so that his breathing can be assisted with a ventilator. But just as they've completed the procedure, Mick goes into cardiac arrest. In Birmingham, the critical care team are called to an incident where a woman has given birth in the foyer of a block of flats. She had been on her way to hospital when she began having contractions. Thankfully, the birth appears to have gone smoothly.

In Wolverhampton, a machine operator has had a workplace accident, and his hand is crushed in an industrial press. The machine can't be released and, after 90 minutes, the man is still stuck. If he can't be freed, he could quickly develop life-threatening complications. While engineers and the fire service make last-ditch efforts to release the press, the critical care team prepare to amputate the man's limb in order to save him. One of the newest members of the critical care team, paramedic Ben Rean, is on shift with one of the most experienced — critical care practitioner Faye Pollock. They're called to a cemetery in Oldbury, where a man is reported to have collapsed while visiting a grave. They find 76-year-old Trevor in cardiac arrest and must perform life-saving treatment. With a combination of CPR and electric shocks with a defibrillator, they manage to restart Trevor's heart just as the ambulance arrives at hospital. In Birmingham, a terrified caller alerts 999 to a man being violently attacked in the street outside their house. Police firearms officers are dispatched to the scene as well as critical care paramedic Jack Lewis and Dr Andy Owen. The man is found to be suffering from horrific wounds, which are believed to have been inflicted with a machete: one arm is nearly detached and bleeding heavily. The man needs urgent surgery. Andy and Jack must get him to hospital safely before it's too late. The critical care team are called to a house fire in Aston. One man is reported to have escaped the fire, but has since disappeared — and fire crews fear more people could still be trapped inside. A search soon reveals the man seen leaving the premises is former nurse David. It transpires that he doesn't live in the property, but bravely entered to try to put the fire out. Dr Hadassah Ihlenfeldt assesses David to see whether he has any serious injuries.

Two air ambulance teams are called to a serious road accident on a busy dual carriageway. A car has crashed through the barriers and rolled into a field. While one team treats a passenger who has been thrown from the vehicle, Dr Jake Turner and Critical Care Paramedic Ryan James focus on the driver, who is still trapped inside and groaning in pain. After fire crews help extract the patient from the car, Dr Jake's initial inspection reveals a broken arm, while the patient's agitated behaviour points to a traumatic head injury. Dr Jake decides to anaesthetise the man in order to transport him to hospital safely without further aggravating his injuries. In Willenhall, the critical-care team are responding to reports of a man who's been stabbed in a supermarket car park. Fortysix- year-old lorry driver Lee had just finished shopping when he saw a group of men trying to break into a van. When he confronted them, he was attacked with a knife and hammer. Critical Care Paramedic Tom Waters and Doctor Richard Brown are called to assist an elderly lady who is struggling to breathe. Eighty-two-year-old Patricia's heart is beating at twice the normal rate and she's in danger of going into cardiac arrest. Tom suggests a technique called the Valsalve Manoeuvre to help slow Patricia's heart before she is transported to hospital. In Birmingham, the critical-care team are dispatched to a woman reported unconscious in a cemetery. A 26-year-old woman has broken her leg in several places after falling from a tree after a night out. Medics rush to a 60-year-old woman with suspected multiple injuries, trapped in her car, and to a 36-year-old knife attack victim, who has extensive injuries to his neck and face.

10am, Wrexham. After reports that a one-tonne hay bale has landed on a farmer's head in a remote location, Critical Care Paramedic Will Meadows and Dr Steve Dauncey are immediately scrambled on board Helimed 03.The farmer John reportedly has blood coming from his nose and mouth, and is struggling to breathe. It's a major trauma, and when Will and Dr Steve arrive, they find that John has suffered multiple fractured ribs, and worse, a punctured lung, leaving him at risk of cardiac arrest. He's in a critical condition, and with no time to lose, Will and Dr Steve have no choice but to perform emergency roadside surgery at the scene to save John's life.Over in Redditch a man has collapsed at work unconscious and is turning blue. Critical Care Paramedic Mitch is immediately dispatched, and on arrival he finds the man's heart is not beating and he's in cardiac arrest. Mitch and the ambulance team battle save the man's life against the odds.50 miles away in Burton on Trent, 76-year-old Doreen's day ends in disaster when she falls all the way down the stairs in her home. With the possibility that a stroke has caused the fall, Critical Care Paramedic Fay Pollock races to the scene.Fay finds Doreen awake and conscious, but with an open wound at the back of her head.It's a nasty fall and she's also complaining of chest pain, meaning she could have suffered

Tewkesbury, 11 pm. A motorist calls 999 after spotting a car stuck in a ditch. A man is trapped inside, slumped against the door and bleeding from his head. It's a time-critical emergency, and Critical Care Paramedics Will Meadows and Kerry Hemus are immediately dispatched, finding Rob, 38, conscious, but unable to move his legs. Fearing he may have suffered a serious spinal injury, Kerry and Mark need to get Rob out of the car as quickly as possible. but any sudden movement now could lead to paralysis.One hundred miles away in Shropshire, 43-year-old Dean calls 999 in agony after accidentally cutting his leg with an angle grinder while chopping down a tree. He's losing blood rapidly, and needs immediate assistance, but he's in a hard-to-reach rural location. It's a potentially life-threatening situation, so a helimed is immediately scrambled. When Critical Care Paramedic Will and Dr Ali Husain reach the scene, they find Dean has a large cut down to the bone, and muscle has been exposed. And worse, the wound is dangerously close to a major artery. Now they have to work quickly and carefully to treat Dean's leg, without the artery bursting, causing catastrophic damage.Over in Northampton, 80-year-old Margaret has fallen down the stairs at home and is struggling to breathe. Every year almost 700 people lose their lives due to a fall down the stairs and critical care paramedic Jenny Mealey and Dr Joe Tyler race to the scene. Signs indicate that Margaret may have a punctured lung, which could be fatal if left untreated.

11.15 AM, Dudley. Eighty-three-year-old Iris suffers a nasty fall at home and is in severe pain. She has a suspected broken thigh bone, and Critical Care Paramedic Stephen Mitchell is immediately dispatched.On arrival he finds Iris in agony and unable to move. Only his advanced training in administering powerful pain relief will be able to get her out of her home and into hospital for the immediate treatment she desperately needs.Meanwhile, 40 miles away in Shrewsbury, 50-year-old Stewart has gone into cardiac arrest during a karate class. It's a category one emergency and Grant Salsby and Sarah Foley race to the scene.On arrival, they find Stewart's heart has been restarted by paramedics, but now he is critically ill, and has a locked jaw. Grant and Sarah will have to do everything they can to stop Stewart from slipping into another potentially fatal arrest.Back at base in RAF Cosford, Critical Care Paramedics Fay Pollock and Will Meadows are just clocking on when they receive reports of a serious road traffic collision.Forty-three-year-old truck driver Gamil is trapped in his cabin, and his dashboard and steering column have collapsed inwards, crushing him from the waist down. It's a race against time to get Gamil out of the wreckage to prevent him suffering any life changing injuries.

A man has sustained a serious leg injury after being crushed by a forklift truck, while a 22-year-old woman is trapped in her car with a badly injured ankle after a collision.

Fay Pollock and Sara Folley arrive on the scene where forty-two-year-old Mark has collapsed in his bathroom. A head on collision between two motorcyclists issues a code red call out for Dr Mark Nash and critical care paramedic Will Meadows. An emergency response team administrates pain management to 56-year-old Della, who is suffering from a broken leg after slipping on her steps.

Paramedics Grant Salsby and Sarah Folley rush to the scene where a man has collapsed at the wheel and crashed his car. Fay Pollock and Dr Stef Cowan treat a 72-year-old who has fallen from a ladder, finding he has an open fracture and no pulse in his foot, while Peter Bowles and Dr Andy Mockridge hurry to a 22-year-old who is suffering a prolonged epileptic seizure.

10.50 AM Staffordshire. 64-year-old David has collapsed at work with a suspected cardiac arrest. Critical Care Paramedics Sarah Folley and Fay Pollock are immediately dispatched.On arrival they find an ambulance crew has restarted David's heart, but one in three patients who come out of cardiac arrest, go on to have another. Now Sarah and Fay have got to do everything they can to prevent this happening to David.Over in Worcestershire, Critical Care Paramedics Kerry Hemus and Laura Taylor are rushing to the scene of a serious road traffic collision.52-year-old Michelle is trapped in her car after crashing into a fallen tree. She's complaining of neck pain which at worst could be a sign of a fracture and there's a risk of paralysis. Kerry and Laura have to think on their feet to get Michelle out of the car and give her the urgent treatment she desperately needs.Meanwhile over in Gloucestershire 21-year-old international show jumper Faye has been kicked off her horse over a jump and is lying on the ground unable to move. Critical Care Paramedics Will Meadows and Grant Salsby race to the scene, to find Faye complaining of chest and shoulder pain. And having hit the floor headfirst she may have sustained injuries that have life-changing consequences.

A 52-year old man complains of neck and shoulder pains after being thrown off his motorbike and a 40-year-old epileptic woman has collapsed with a dangerously low breating rate.

A 60-year-old man is involved in a high speed crash and it seems his chest has taken the full force of the impact; A 70-year-old man suddenly collapses with symptoms of a heart attack.

A 53-year-old joiner has fallen through the first floor of a building; a 43-year-old man has cut himself in the abdomen with a chainsaw whilst doing DIY and is in a serious condition.

Critical care paramedics Lisa Brown and Dudley Mobbs are called to a house in High Wycombe where a handyman has plummeted 18 feet from a ladder. In Buckinghamshire Dr Manjit Riyat and critical care paramedic Barry Walsh race to the aid of 10-year-old Riley who has a broken femur after coming off his motocross bike. Also, a 53-year-old has collapsed and is unresponsive.

21-year-old Ryan loses his helmet and suffers serious injuries after a motorcycle accident and a toddler suffers a seizure so severe he's placed in an induced coma.

Fourty-one-year-old builder Travis has been involved in a traffic collision, leaving him with multiple injuries - a potentially fractured foot, arm and pelvis, as well as possible internal bleeding. He needs stabilizing and rushing to hospital. Dr Jon Baileu and CCP Joe Epton come to the aid of a 64-year-old who has suffered a massive stroke on a golf course.

Dr Jon Bailey and critical care paramedic Andy Ludlow are called to an elderly man, who is stranded on his bedroom floor after collapsing and breaking his ankle. Dr Manjit Ryat and critical care paramedic Hannah Hirst come to the aid of 12-year-old Lewis, who is seizing and vomiting due to a severe form of epilepsy.

At Reading Services on the M4, 72-year-old retired college lecturer Steve steps out of his car and suffers a cardiac arrest. Dr Laura Douglas Beveridge and critical care paramedic Hannah Hirst rush to the scene. Elsewhere, a car rolls down a motorway verge, leaving both the driver and passenger critically injured. Critical care paramedic Barry Walsh and Dr Henry Knott are despatched.

When Dr Laura Douglas Beveridge and paramedic Andy Colledge arrive at a multi-car road traffic accident, they find a 29-year-old trapped in her car and bleeding from her head. Dr Matt McGurran and paramedic Andy Ludlow are called to assist an ambulance crew treating a man who slipped out of the bath and has multiple broken ribs.

A 999 call comes in reporting a car has hit a group of pedestrians - paramedics Mark Hodkinson and Adam Panter are immediately dispatched. Dr Tim Wait and paramedic Matt Hale come to the aid of 61-year-old Robin, who has fallen and broken his leg. Also, the medical skills of Dr Suzy Stokes and paramedic Joe Epton are required when 75-year-old Jacqueline collapses and suffers a cardiac arrest.

Dr Suzy Stokes and Paramedic Nick Cole are dispatched to a women suffering a cardiac arrest while driving her car. Luckily, bystanders have begun CPR on the driver, but her life remains in the balance. Dr Laura Douglas Beveridge and paramedic Andy Colledge race to the aid of 19-year-old Gleb, who has crashed his motorcycle. Also, a 20-year-old is believed to be having a seizure after being punched in the face.

When a 999 call comes in reporting that 67-year-old HGV driver Bikkar has suffered a cardiac arrest, Dr James Rait and paramedic Joe Epton are immediately dispatched. In Hillingdon, Dr David Metcalfe and Critical Care Paramedic Lia Brown race to the aid of 44-year-old John who has burns to his head, arm and hand after lighting a bonfire with petrol.
