Colin and Lucy begin their week-long adventure around the UK's very own wildernesses with a look at our rivers.Colin travels up the River Wye following the king of fish, the salmon - whilst Lucy discovers the wilder side of canals at night. The show goes behind the scenes with Steve Backshall and the Wild Alaska Live team as they try to film the elusive salmon shark.Plus viewers will discover how the return of one of Britain's long-lost beasts - the beaver - is changing the landscape and reveal how the UK's rivers are important for one of the world's most peculiar fish – the sea lamprey.

Today it's the turn of wild forests.Lucy discovers how the success of the pine marten in Scotland is also helping a recovery of the animals in Wales. Colin travels deep in to one of Britain's wildest places - Keilder Forest - and the team go behind the scenes with the Wild Alaska team tracking down grizzly bears.The show also discovers the surprising blue beetle living in the heart of Dartmoor's wooded valleys and how a long lost beast has made a comeback to our forests: the wild boar.

Lucy travels to Brighton to meet Dr Dawn Scott who's unravelling the reasons behind the red fox's urban habits. Viewers will also discover some top tips for finding the wild amongst the city and the programme will reveal how the UK's most colourful bird, the kingfisher, can find home amongst the hustle and bustle of even our busiest city, London.The team also go behind the scenes with the Wild Alaska Live team, as they reveal how even life for the people of Alaska can be governed by the arrival of the Pacific salmon.
